Bond set for O’Neal Cemetery trucker

Magistrate Judge Karen Jackson set bond Wednesday morning for 26-year-old Devonte Carr on a total of 36 felony counts in connection with the desecration of O’Neal Cemetery here July 25. Carr faces 22 counts of striking a fixed object and 14 counts of second degree criminal damage to property after allegedly running his tractor-trailer through the cemetery which is located at the very end of Railroad Street in Barnesville. Judge Jackson noted that Carr has a criminal history but has been very cooperative with the investigation. She set bond at $25,000. “This is a fair bond considering that you have a criminal history and live out of state. The bond is not punitive. It is designed to make sure you return for court dates,” Judge Jackson said. For more on this story, see the 8.21.18 print edition of The Herald Gazette.
