BPD issues scam alert

Barnesville police have issued a scam alert involving a local man who falsely claims he can provide goods at drastically reduced prices for cash. The subject of the alert is Marcus Banks, approximately 40 years of age. He is about six feet tall, weighs about 250 pounds and has tattoos on his face. According to police, Banks has a very friendly nature and approaches would be victims claiming that he works for a trucking company and is able to get items like alcohol and tobacco products and vegetables at discount prices. Like all scam artists, Banks disappears never to return once the victim hands over the cash for the products. Police urge those approached by Banks to refuse his overtures and call 911 as soon as possible. If you have been victimized, contact BPD investigators at 770-358-1246.
