Commissioner George Brown appealed to the members of the Barnesville-Lamar County Industrial Authority, seeking restrictions in tax abatement agreements with new industries which would require them to pay their property taxes promptly or lose those abatements.’They should be required to file tax returns on or before the due date and pay their taxes on or before the due date or have to refund the abatement amount to the county,’ Brown said.He made his remarks at the regular IDA meeting held July 9.
