Buggython to benefit LCMS

The 34th annual Barnesville Buggython 5K, 10K and two-mile road races, hosted by the Lamar County school system, will benefit the middle school this year. Both the 5K and 10K are USATF certified and are Peachtree Road Race Qualifiers. It is part of the 2011 Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Series. The race is the traditional kickoff to Buggy Days weekend activities, with late registration and packet pickup beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. All participants who pre-register by Sept. 2 will get a T-shirt; those who enter the day of the race may or may not. Packet pickup and race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. in the Gordon College athletic parking lot at the corner of College Drive and Highlander Way. The race begins at 8 a.m. Water will be provided at stations along the route and nutritious snacks will follow the race. The Buggython is sponsored by local and area businesses. Pre-registration is $18 if postmarked by Sept. 2. The price is $15 for runners ages 12 and under. On the day of the race the costs will be $20 for the 10K, $17 for the 5K and $10 for the two mile walk. Checks should be made payable to Lamar County Middle School. Age classifications are 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over. All finishers in the 2 mile fun walk will receive a T-shirt. Awards will be presented in the 5K and 10K to the top three male and female overall, masters male and female and top three males and females in all age groups.
