Burousas trial begins Tuesday

The murder trial of Teresa Burousas gets underway Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. in Pike County superior court. She is charged with murder in connection with the July 1, 2009 shooting death of her husband ‘Buzz’ Burousas, 60. The victim was the son of the late, former Lamar County chief magistrate Jimmie Burousas. After the shooting, Teresa Burousas allegedly feigned injuries and blamed them and her husband’s death on a pair of home invaders. Buzz Burousas died of two gunshot wounds. In a move tantamount to throwing herself upon the mercy of the court, Teresa Burousas has opted for a bench trial before Judge Qullian Baldwin. The Herald-Gazette and its sister publication, The Pike County Journal-Reporter, requested and have been granted authorization to shoot still photos during the trial. For trial coverage, check often during the week.
