A Butts County deputy was killed late Saturday night when his patrol car ran off the road and hit two trees. Deputy Ronnie Eugene Smith was killed in the crash that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. The crash took place on Biles Road near Four Points Road. The dead deputy was answering a fight call when he lost control.
