B’ville pair charged in Macon murder

A 19-year-old Barnesville man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the killing of a Family Dollar assistant manager during a robbery in Macon. UPDATE:Two more suspects, including a Barnesville woman, have now been arrested and charged with murder. Antonio Browner was arrested in Spalding County about 7 p.m. Wednesday by officers acting on a tip. A second black male wanted in the killing remains at large. On Thurday, officer made two more arrests in connection with the murder. Ron’ejsa Smith, 21, of Barnesville and Quartez Carter, 24, of Macon were caught after an intense manhunt The victim, Gary Bennett Cole, 38, was shot at least once. He was taken by ambulance to the Medical Center of Central Georgia and pronounced dead. Browner is already a career criminal despite his age with four arrests since 2007. All three suspects are charged with murder, attempted armed robbery and multiple probation violations.
