Camden County has selected its former offensive coordinator Welton Coffey to replace Jeff Herron as its head football coach. Lamar County head coach Franklin Stephens was considered a frontrunner for the Camden job at one point. There was much talk at Camden about changing the culture of the coaching staff there. Many felt Herron had become a CEO instead of a hands-on mentor and the school is apparently moving away from the structure Herron built though it was inarguably successful.
