Candidates square off at forum October 9

Candidates in the only two local contested races on the November 6 general election ballot will square off in a public forum here October 9 at the Barnesville Civic Center. The fireworks begin at 6 p.m. when the candidates for the District 3 county commission seat – Republican Van Baker and Democrat Aaron Brown – take the podium. They will be followed by the three candidates in the hotly-contested race for Lamar County sheriff. Those candidates are Independent Joe Buice, Democrat Frank Usher and Republican Brad White. The forum is sponsored by the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and Lamar County Farm Bureau. Each candidate will have the opportunity to make an opening and closing statement. The candidates will field questions from each other as well as questions submitted by the general public. If you have a question you would like to submit, e-mail it to emilyrowland@barnesville.org or call 770.358.5884.
