Carolyn McFarlin “Nanny” Dunaway

Mrs. Carolyn McFarlin “Nanny” Dunaway, age 87 of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 23, 2023.
Mrs. Dunaway was born on August 1, 1935 in Upson County, Georgia to the late Joel McFarlin and Opal Crews McFarlin. Carolyn had a charismatic personality and was loved dearly by her family and friends. Additional to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Wayne McFarlin; sisters, Virginia Garner, and Helen Teal.
Survivors include her beloved husband and companion of 60 years, Willis “Billy” Dunaway; children, Deborah (Arnold) Altman, Jennifer (Bobby) Bromilow, James Parrott, and Gregg Parrott; sister, Joann Byrd; sister in law, Juanita McFarlin; brothers, Harold (Bobby) McFarlin, Roger (Linda) McFarlin, James (Barbara) McFarlin, George (Judy) McFarlin, and Billy (Linda) McFarlin; grandchildren, Sabrina (Justin) Gasaway, Billie Jo (Shannon) Green, Tammy (John) Roquemore, Nicole Gilstrap (Mike Brown), Alicia (Thomas) Hinton, and Brian (Crystal) Altman; 13 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
Nanny will be deeply missed by her family. She was our rock, but we take comfort in knowing she is in the arms of Jesus.
A visitation for Carolyn McFarlin “Nanny” Dunaway will on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted in the chapel with Pastor Howard Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery.
