Stalwart Trojan Willie Hamm succumbs
Willie Hamm died Friday at Wellstar Spalding in Griffin after a long battle with cancer.
Arrangements are subject to change but visitation is currently set for 5:30-7 p.m. tonight at the Fine Arts Center. The funeral will be held at the FAC Tuesday at 12 noon.

Lamar schools closed Friday
Due to Thursday’s storms, Lamar County Schools will be closed Friday.

In light of the damage from severe weather incidents in the area, Lamar County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 13, 2023 for all students and staff. With MLK holiday Monday, we will return to our normal schedule Tuesday. Please be in prayer for those impacted by the storm and stay safe.
CJ signs with the Dawgs Wednesday morning
Trojan star CJ Allen will sign with the Georgia Bulldogs at ceremonies to be held at the LC gym Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. Allen is one of the top inside linebacker prospects in the nation and a finalist for the high school Butkus Award.
Trojan fans and the Dawgnation are invited to show up and support Allen who will be headed to Athens to take part in bowl game practices. The defending national champion Dawgs are 13-0 and in the hunt for another title after dominating LSU 50-30 to win the SEC Championship over the weekend.

Lamar school bus involved in crash, no injuries
A Lamar County school bus was involved in a collision Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Silver Dollar Road and Ga. Hwy. 7.
Initial indications were the school bus was crossing the four-lane from Silver Dollar Road and broadsided a northbound Chevrolet pickup.
Neither driver was injured and no kids were on the bus.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
“We are thankful no students were on the bus and no injuries were reported. We do not anticipate any interruptions to our routes from this incident,” superintendent Dr. Jute Wilson said.
