The LC Lady Trojans are the #4 seed in the Class A, Div. 1 state soccer playoffs and host #13 Worth County in the Sweet 16 here Tuesday. First touch is set for 5:30 p.m. at the high school field.

LC advanced by blanking Coosa 5-0 in round one. \Worth topped #20 Swainsboro 3-0 in the first round. The two teams had no common opponents during the regular season.

A win would propel coach Ricci Jules’ Lady Trojans into the Elite 8 where they would face the winner of the Sweet 16 contest pitting #5 Fannin County against #21 Rabun County. That match is tentatively set for May 4 and would be played here.

The #3 Lady Trojan tennis team is also in the Sweet 16 Tuesday after topping Jasper County 5-0 in round one. They host #14 Brantley County. That match begins at 2 p.m. at the LC courts.

Multiple LC track and field athletes shined at last week’s region meet where the boys finished first and the girls finished second. Many are moving on to the sectionals at Bleckley County May 2.

Former Trojan standout CJ Allen reportedly ran a 4.47 40-yard dash last week in a private workout for NFL Scouts and several so-called draft experts have said that time cements his status as a first round pick in the NFL Draft which begins tonight.

Allen did not run the 40 in previous workouts due to a lingering injury. A 4.47 is an excellent time for a 6-1, 230 pound inside linebacker prospect. Allen totaled 88 tackles last season for UGA despite missing time due to injury.

The draft is being held in Pittsburgh and begins with round one Thursday at 8 p.m. Rounds two and three are set for Friday beginning at 7 p.m. with rounds 4-7 beginning Saturday at noon.

UPDATE: The Trojans lost 3-0 and their season came to an end.

The Lamar County Trojans (10-8) will host the Vidalia Indians (10-7) in the first round of the state soccer playoffs tonight at the high school field. First touch is set for 7 p.m.

The Trojans are the #14 seed while Vidalia is seeded 19th.

The two teams had no common opponents during the regular season.

The winner of that match will play the winner of the first round match pitting region foe Putnam County (#3) and Dade County (#30) next Wednesday.

UPDATE: LC won the first round game 5-0 and will face Worth County in round two here April 28. Worth beat Swainsboro 3-0 in round one.

The region champion Lady Trojans (14-3) are the #4 seed. Coosa (7-9) is the #29 seed. The two teams had no common opponents during the regular season.

A win would send the Lady Trojans, coached by Ricci Jules, to round two where they would host the winner of the first round matchup between Worth County (#13) and Swainsboro (#20) next Tuesday.

The LC Lady Trojans tennis team swept Jasper County 5-0 in the first round of the state tennis tournament today on the local courts. The Lady Trojans are a #3 seed. They move onto to play the winner of a first round match between #14 Brantley County and #19 Swainsboro next week.

The Trojans are the #25 seed and travel to #8 Bleckley County for a first round match beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
