It’s over! LC falls 57-42

The #7 LC Lady Trojans (24-6), doomed by a three point second quarter, were eliminated from the state basketball tournament by Athens Christian here Tuesday night 57-42.

Sweet 16 basketball: LC beats the fight out of Irish

The LC Lady Trojans (23-5) host the Dublin Fighting Irish (20-8) in the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA state basketball playoffs here tonight. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the LC gym.

Coach Adam Ballard’s LC team is ranked #7 in the latest polls. Dublin is unranked. LC entered the playoffs as a #1 seed. Dublin is a #2 seed.

UPDATE: Lady Trojans win, host second round state tournament game Friday; Trojans eliminated

UPDATE 2:The Trojans were eliminated from the tournament Wednesday on the road in Pelham 65-53.

UPDATE: The Lady Trojans walloped Irwin County 81-33 Tuesday. They will host Dublin Friday. Dublin topped Metter 51-37 in the first round.

The LC Lady Trojans won the region tournament last week and are a #1 seed headed into the first round of the GHSA state basketball tournament. They host Irwin County here tonight at 6 p.m. at the LC gym. The Lady Indians are a #4 seed after going 0-25 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Trojans are a #3 seed and will travel to Pelham Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest. The Hornets (10-11) are a #2 seed.

Region basketball tournament: Lady Trojans in title game, Trojans play for third place Thursday

UPDATE: The Lady Trojans defeated Crawford County 66-37 in round one. They will play Heard County in the title game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Trojans lost to Temple 69-58 in round one. They will play Crawford Co. in the third place game Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

The Division 1 Region 4A basketball tournament gets underway today at the LC gym. The Lady Trojans (20-5, 5-1) are a #1 seed. The Trojans (6-18, 1-5) are a #4 seed.

Action begins at 3 p.m. when the #2 Heard girls face the #3 Temple girls. The #2 Heard boys play the #3 Crawford County boys at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Trojans face #4 seed Crawford County at 6 p.m. with the Trojans facing #1 Temple at 7:30 p.m.

The consolation games begin at 3 p.m. Thursday with the title games beginning at 6 p.m.

LC soccer hosts Trojan Cup; action begins Monday

The LC soccer program is hosting the annual Trojan Cup tournament this week.

LC hosts Pike County in the first round Monday, Feb. 5 with the girls playing at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. NOTE: This game as changed from Feb. 6 due to senior night for girls basketball.


Round two pits LC against Northside Saturday, Feb. 10 with the girls playing at 9 a.m. and boys action following at 11 a.m. The championship games and third place games are later that afternoon.

The LCMS soccer season begins Wednesday, Feb. 7 with a road trip to Jasper County. The girls play at 5 p.m. with the boys to follow.

Lady Trojans rolling at 11-3; Foster sets school scoring record

The #6 LC Lady Trojans are red hot, having won the Oscar Wimberly Classic the week after Christmas then defeating Upson-Lee Saturday. Adam Ballard’s squad is now 11-3 and on a 10-game winning streak.

In round two of tournament play Dec. 29, LC walloped Westside 61-26. Shy Foster led all scorers with 25 points.

Other scorers were Lauren Wilcher (11), Journi Harris (8), Kaylee Hamrick (4), Makayla Watts (4), Ella Bleu Leverett (4), Zhy Foster (3) and Alexia Jackson (2).

In the tourney championship game, LC edged Morgan County 54-48. Shy Foster had 32 points and set a new school scoring record with 1868 points. The previous record was 1864 points by Tamya Blasingame.

Other scorers were Harris (9), Zhy Foster (5), Wilcher (4), Leverett (2) and Hamrick (2).

On Saturday afternoon, the locals traveled to Thomaston, started slow but roared back to take a 47-40 win over the Lady Knights. Shy Foster was stellar again with 27 points and seven rebounds.

Other scorers were Harris (5), Leverett (4), Hamrick (3), Zhy Foster (2), Wilcher (2), Watts (2) and Briana Jackson (2).

TROJANS:
Meanwhile, the Trojans losing streak extended to nine games. In round two of the tournament, they lost a narrow decision to Jackson 43-41. In round three, they fell to Ola 77-67. On Saturday, they got blown out by the Knights 76-39.
