After being humbled by Northeast last week, the Lamar County Trojans will try to get well this week when they travel back to Macon to take on winless Southwest. The Patriots are 0-5 having been outscored 177-76 by Howard, ACE, Westside, Callaway and Central, respectively.
LC is a 27-point favorite, according to the Maxwell/AJC projections.
The LC cross country and track programs will host Run the Ville Oct. 3 at Trojan Field. A 5K and fun run are scheduled.

The Lamar County Trojans opened the 2026 football season Friday with a 24-3 win over Upson-Lee. The game was called with 9:04 left in the third quarter after the fourth lightning delay of the night.

The Lamar County community will honor former Trojan and Georgia Bulldog star CJ Allen with a parade and meet and greet on Friday, June 19. Allen was recently taken in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
The events will begin with a parade from the EP Roberts Center to Summers Field Park at 5 p.m.
Following the parade, friends, family and fans will gather in the lot across Hwy. 18 from the high school were one of several ‘Home of CJ Allen’ signs will be erected at the city limits. Allen will then take time for photos and signing autographs.
The following morning, CJ will holds his third annual youth football camp at Trojan Field from 9 a.m.-noon. That event is sold out.
Lamar County voters go to the polls today to cast ballots in the general/nonpartisan primary. Polling places throughout the county will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
There are only two contested local races on ballots. Incumbent District 2 county commissioner Jason Lovett is being challenged by Neal Devane. Both are Republicans.
The race garnering the most interest locally is that for Towaliga Circuit Judge of Superior Court and will be decided by voters here and in Butts and Monroe counties. That race pits Natalie Sundeen vs. Jonathan Adams, both Republicans. The winner will succeed Judge Tommy Wilson who is not seeking reelection.
Statewide races include those for US senate, US house, governor, lieutenant governor, state senate, secretary of state, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, insurance commissioner, state school superintendent, labor commissioner, public service commissioner, state supreme court and state court of appeals.
Additionally, both Republican and Democrat ballots contain multiple party questions.

The LC Lady Trojans lost to Thomasville Lady Bulldogs 6-1 in the Final Four round of the Class A. Div. 1 state soccer playoff Thursday. Thomasville was the #1 seed. LC was the #4 seed.
