County commission chairman Ryran Traylor has issued a statement on the purchase of nearly 1000 acres along I-75 in Lamar County by Amazon Data Services. The land sold for $270 million and was purchased from Legacy75 LLC and High Falls 75 LLC.
Traylor’ statement follows:
As Chairman of the Lamar County Board of Commissioners, I want to provide an update regarding Amazon’s recent acquisition in our community. According to official records filed with the Lamar County Clerk of Superior Court, Amazon Data Services, Inc., an Amazon subsidiary, has purchased approximately 984.89 acres of land on the west side of Interstate 75. The property, previously owned by High Falls 75 LLC and part of the Legacy 75 Trade Center, is strategically located off High Falls Park Road near Exit 198, offering access for industrial use due to its proximity to the interstate.
The sale was finalized on July 25, 2025, and the property is currently zoned for manufacturing and industrial development. The previous owner completed all required rezoning application steps, including appearing before the Lamar County Joint Planning Commission, where conditions such as buffers, adherence to Lamar County ordinances, and restrictive covenants were established. Subsequently, there was a community information session, a public hearing, and finally, a vote by the Board of Commissioners with specific requirements.
The exact details of Amazon’s intended development will be presented during upcoming pre-construction meetings with the county. At these meetings, Amazon will clarify their plans, providing greater insight into the nature and scope of their project. We recognize that industrial developments can impact surrounding properties, and we are committed to ensuring that this new project brings the minimal possible disruption to neighboring areas and Lamar County as a whole.
We look forward to engaging in productive discussions with Amazon as they further establish their presence in our community.

Who voted, fire ants? I just moved here to my Aunt’s home, who has lived here for five years. Right near High Falls State Park. We are in Monroe County, but we weren’t notified of a vote. Sneaky.
