Changes coming at deadly crossroads

The crash-riddled intersection of highways 18 (Rose Avenue) and 341 in Barnesville is among 38 median crossings on the four-lane to be updated as part of a mammoth DOT project.Every median crossing from Kalamazoo Road in Spalding County south to Ace Hardware in Barnesville will be revamped under one contract to be let in early October. Realistically, work could begin on the vast project in early 2010.At a meeting last week, the ad hoc local transportation committee discussed the plans and it was noted the intersection of Fellowship (Industrial) Drive and Highway 41 was not included in the project.
