Charles Lowery named SRE interim CEO

Vice president of finance and administration Charles Lowery was named interim CEO at Southern Rivers Energy by the board of directors until a new President/CEO is named. Raleigh Henry retired Jan. 31 after 36 years at the coop. Lowery has worked in his current role at SRE for the past 14 years. Originally from Lumber City, Lowery received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia in 1967. He married his wife Judy in 1970 and worked at Bibb Company in Macon for 17 years before becoming a partner in Bibb Yarns. After 10 years he sold the company and continued working in the finance departments at a plastics recycling company and a pulp paper mill for a short time until being hired at Southern Rivers in 1999. Lowery is a member of Barnesville Rotary Club and he and Judy are members of Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon. They enjoy traveling and spending time with their two daughters and three grandchildren. Lowery said, ‘SRE is fortunate to have such a fantastic group of dedicated employees and directors. We expect a smooth transition once the new CEO is named.’
