Charlie Thomas Barron

Charlie Thomas Barron died May 17, 2014. Mr. Barron was born Oct. 4, 1945 in Logtown, Upson County, to the late Abe Barron Sr. and the late Flossie Davis Barron. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Althea Denise Barron Miller. Charlie joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was educated in the Upson County school system. He was employed with the Thompson Packing Company, Thomaston Mills and Burnette’s Construction Co. He was known for his cowboy boots and hat and the beads worn around his neck. Survivors include his wife, Maggie P. Barron; four children, Rev. Derrick C. Barron (Nija), Nettie J. Warner, Charles Lamar Barron and Jerry Barron; grandchildren, Markeita D. Miller, Aderrius Barron, Aniya Barron, Therion J. Warner, Travis J. Warner (Christine) and Tamara A. Warner; 12 great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Annie Grace Gates (Darren) and James A. Barron (Claire); sister- and brother-in-law, Annie A. Warner and Robert James Warner; aunts, Alberta Pennyman, Annie Kate Acey, Lola Walker, Bernice Harps, Betty Williams, Shirley Thompson and Marilyn Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Services were held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Rev. H.A. Slaughter officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bentley and Sons Funeral Home of Barnesville had charge of arrangements.
