The driver of a vehicle involved in a high speed chase that ended in a fatality here Monday night was in fair condition at Atrium Health, Macon as of 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Bryan Pierre Williams, 39, was driving a Chevy Tahoe and fled from a state trooper. The trooper, who has not been identified, attempted to pit the Tahoe on Barnesville Road, lost control and flipped multiple times. He is recovering from his injuries.
Williams fled toward Barnesville on Hwy. 36 at a high speed and was successfully pitted by a Lamar deputy near the Pennington homeplace. The Tahoe left the roadway, skidded some distance and hit a tree.
A passenger, Vincent Hughes, 41, was dead at the scene. Williams was lifeflighted to Macon. The chase was drug related and Williams faces multiple charges if he survives.
