City council candidates face off

Candidates in the two contested Barnesville city council races on the November 3 ballot faced off at a public forum October 20 at the Barnesville Civic Center. The event was sponsored by the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and Lamar County Farm Bureau. First up were the candidates for the ward 5 seat: incumbent Butch McDaniel and challenger Mark Stone. In the nightcap, three of the four candidates for the ward four seat being vacated by longtime council member Lynn Wilson appeared. They were Robert Neal Devane, Larry Whitworth and Bobby York. The fourth candidate in that race, Calvin Scandrett, was unable to appear at the forum due to a previously-scheduled family commitment. Advance voting in the city election is underway. http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7191981&
