City seeks to double wastewater discharge

As part of its ongoing wastewater treatment plant expansion, the city of Barnesville is seeking the approval of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to double its permitted discharge amount. Currently, Barnesville is permitted to discharge 1.2 million gallons of treated wastewater into Tobesofkee Creek daily from its Gordon Road treatment facility. It is seeking to double that permit to 2.4 million gallons daily. The city’s application, draft permit and other information are available for inspection if one is willing to drive to Atlanta. Otherwise, comments may be mailed to EPD at 4220 International Parkway, Suite 101, Atlanta, Ga. 30354. The legal advertisement regarding this permit application is published on page 7A of the 8.7.2012 print edition of the Herald Gazette.
