Classes underway at Gordon

The Gordon State College campus was bustling Monday and Tuesday and was a beehive of activity Wednesday morning and both resident and commuter students arrived for the first day of classes. Gordon administrators are expecting around 4000 students to be enrolled after the dust settles and everyone is in class. The biggest issue on the minds of those administrators is parking as new students arrive and learn their way around Barnesville and the campus. GSC police officers will be on hand this week to direct students to available parking spaces as on-campus lots fill up. If the need arises, an overflow lot on Honeysuckle Lane will be put to use and shuttles will transport students from there to the main campus. Students are prohibited from parking on city property. This includes Summers Field Park and the newly-paved lot at the old Women’s Clubhouse. Students parked in those areas face ticketing and towing. Campus life will start swinging soon with the starts of the women’s soccer and men’s basketball seasons on the near horizon.
