Claxton named pro tem

Barnesville city council named councilwoman Anne Claxton the mayor pro tem during a brief meeting Jan. 11. She takes the place of longtime mayor pro tem Lynn Wilson, who did not run for re-election last year. ”If I’m not mistaken, she’s the first female mayor pro tem in the history of Barnesville,” said mayor Peter Banks. ”It’s an honor to serve in this position,” said Claxton. Other appointments included senior city judge Rob Morton; associate judges Jim Granum, Kathy Martin and Dan Rainey; auditor Robyn Underwood-Chute; attorney Bobby Melton of Haygood, Lynch, Harris, Melton and Watson; engineer Bill White of Stevenson and Palmer Engineering; surveyor Conkle and Lane and Associates; physician Dr. Lee Woodall and solicitor J. Kristi Rowell. For more city council coverage see the 01/19/10 print edition of The Herald-Gazette.
