Mr. Clay Augustus Lane Jr., age 70, of Barnesville passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Barnesville, he was the son of the late Mr. Clay Augustus Lane Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Kate Newton Lane; and was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Ann Lane Fuss. Mr. Lane retired from the U.S. Navy. Survivors include one son, Jimmy (and Christie) Lane of The Rock; one brother, Malcolm E. Lane (and Lynda) of Byron; two sisters, Nancy L. (and Ken) White of Macon and Evelyn L. (and Robert) Bates of Madison; and three grandchildren, Lauren Lane, Will Lane and Savannah Lane, all of The Rock. Funeral services for Mr. Clay Augustus Lane Jr. will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
