Clifford A. Vaughn

Rev. Clifford A. Vaughn, 88, of Barnesville passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston. He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Griffin, son of the late George Clifford and Martha Jones Vaughn. Rev. Vaughn was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He had worked at the William Carter Company and retired from ministry after pastoring several churches in the area. Rev. Vaughn was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a staff sergeant during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Mildred Ross Vaughn; daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred Annette and James McDonald of Byron, Ga., and Betty Ann and Ronald Smith of Barnesville; eight grandchildren and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Mae Smith and Margaret Davis of Barnesville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Jimmy Rudesal and four brothers, Roland Vaughn, Ralph Vaughn, Roy Vaughn and Henry Vaughn. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Killingsworth, Rev. Derek Lovelady and Rev. Franklin Gibson officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will be at his home, and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Condolences may be expressed and memories shared in the guest book at breedlovememorialchapel.com.
