New Trojan head coach Bryan Love says his players are excited about the new spread offense he and his staff are installing. Trojan fans can get a first glimpse of that offense Friday night at Trojan Field at a 6 p.m. scrimmage. Admission is $5.Coach Love also went into some detail how his former Wing-T personnel are being deployed in the new spread attack.”The kids have been working hard and they are excited about the new offense. We hope to have different players at various positions so we can evaluate them thoroughly,” Love said.Three quarterbacks will take snaps in the scrimmage. They are Malik Collier, Jonah Stout and Grayson Jett.Numerous receivers are in the rotation. They include Alondrick Cole, Tae Holiday, Andrew O’Neal, Rondez Fletcher, Qua Bateman, Jaylund Harris and Sean Smith.”We are excited to see how some of our younger receivers will perform as well,” Love continued.He noted that the offensive line is often overlooked but is a staple of the spread offense. He singled out linemen Michael Tenney, Michael King, Issac Cedano, Josh Wall and Brandon Barron.Defensively, Malik Banks will be a key starter at middle linebacker. Other defenders he singled out were Brandon Smith, Quay Parks and Zac Ferguson along with defensive linemen Cedric Dumas, Terry Grier, Issac Cedano, Sean Smith and Colby Battle.Dawson Davis returns as the top placekicker and punter.”This scrimmage is going to be a dress rehearsal for next Friday when South Atlanta comes in for a scrimmage at 7 p.m. The key for us right now is to show improvement each and every day,” Love said.After this week’s scrimmage, there will be bounce houses for the kids and flag football on the Trojan Field turf for youth players. The concession stand will be open and it will be a great opportunity to come out and see the 2016 edition of the Trojans and meet the new coaching staff.
