Cold week ahead; snow a possibility for Lamar Co.

Barnesville-Lamar County has entered the deepfreeze and will stay there for awhile as unusually cold temperatures will dominate the local forecast for the next week. Overnight lows are not expected to climb above the freezing mark until January 12. Lows in the mid to low 20s are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Thursday’s high is expected to reach the mid 40s but the low will plunge again to about 27 degrees. Moisture will move in and overnight snow is a possibility here. At press time Monday, The Weather Channel rated that possibility at 60%. Intellicast had it at 35%. Friday will be brutal with a high of only 33, a low of 16 and high winds which could push wind chill temperatures to near or below 0.
