Colorectal cancer awareness Blue Out, seminar set Thursday

Colorectal cancer is one of the few that can be detected through testing and prevented if caught early, says Sherry Farr, Lamar County nurse manager at the health department. The health department, Barnesville Rotary Club and Spalding Regional Hospital are sponsoring Barnesville Blue Out, a colorectal cancer awareness event Thursday, March 13, from 6-8 p.m. in room 123 at the Gordon State College Nursing/ Allied Health Services building. Speakers will be Fred Morris, a local survivor who will tell his story, and Dr. Al Soltan with Georgia Cancer Specialists. Dr. Soltan received extensive education in Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York and Egypt and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine.
