At a called meeting Jan. 19, the Lamar County commission approved the purchase of three new patrol cars for the sheriff’s department. The cars are Dodge Chargers with 5.7 Liter V8 Hemi engines.
The cars retail at $45,935 per unit. The county is paying $38,000 through fleet and government discounts. The total bill of $114,000 will be paid using SPLOST funds.
The low bidder for the purchases was Ginn Commercial.
