Commuter rail plan snubs Barnesville

Long little more than a pipe dream, commuter rail service linking Atlanta and Macon has new impetus after a recently released study by the prestigious Brookings Institute. The study recommends stations in seven cities but Barnesville is not included. Even more troubling is the possibility Lamar countians could pay taxes – via multi-county tax allocation or tax improvement districts – to fund trains only to watch them roar through with no opportunity to board them here at home.
