The Lamar County commission voted 3-1 Tuesday night to demand the immediate resignations of two of the county’s three tax assessors. Resignations will be demanded of chairman Lisa Dziedzic and vice-chairman David Dodds. Assessor Shirley Stickler recently resigned due to family health concerns and has not been replaced. Assessor Aaron Brown was spared because he was only recently appointed. In calling for the resignations, commissioner Nancy Thrash noted the assessors were the origin of most of the complaints she has received and that a countywide revaluation promised five years ago still has not been done. ”The Board of Assessors no longer has the public’s trust,” Thrash said. Commissioner George Brown cast the lone vote against the demand for the resignations.
