Crawford murder case goes to grand jury March 20

Upson County clerk of court Teresa Harper reported last week the cases of two defendants charged with the murder of Roderick Crawford of Barnesville will be presented to a grand jury in Thomaston March 20. Kiera Williams, 18, and Cameron Jones, 20, are charged with felony murder, malice murder, two counts aggravated assault and firearms charges. Crawford disappeared after contacting Williams for sex via an online escort service, investigators say. His body was found behind a trailer in the crime-ridden Lincoln Park area of Thomaston Jan. 3. He had been missing for almost a week. There have been indications prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against either Williams or Jones, both of whom are said to be members of the Bloods gang. Williams is being held in the Upson County jail. Jones is being held in Clayton County.
