In a hearing that was moved up to 8 a.m. due to security concerns, the second defendant in the Roderick Crawford murder cases was denied bond. They may not be republished or disseminated in any form – including social media – without explicit permission.*********************Late last week, Clayton County investigators discovered plans for Jones to escape during transport from Jonesboro to Thomaston for Monday’s hearing. He solicited an unnamed suspect to shoot the transport deputies in the head so he could flee. Upson sheriff Dan Kilgore was notified of the plot by Clayton sheriff Victor Hill who provided a SWAT team to ensure Jones was successfully transported to the hearing.Jones is charged with felony murder, malice murder, two counts aggravated assault, kidnaping and firearms charges. Prosecutors says both Jones and co-defendant Kiera Williams were armed with 9 mm. pistols at the time Crawford was killed.After the hearing, Jones was whisked back to Clayton County where he is being held.
