A man on a bicycle swerved into traffic on Hwy. 341 near its intersection with Friendship Road in Pike County Saturday afternoon and was struck by a vehicle. The victim was conscious but may have suffered some head trauma. He was unable to remember his name, address or where he was headed. At one point, he identified himself as a retired physician residing on Liberty Hill Circle in Lamar County. Witnesses said the cyclist swerved from the right hand lane of 341 into the left lane, where he was struck by a silver Nissan Sentra at about 3 p.m. The woman driving that car was uninjured as were her husband and two children who were passengers in the Nissan. The cyclist was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. More on this story as it develops.
