DA willing to look into criminal charges in Smith-Scott case

By Walter Geiger Towaliga circuit district attorney Jonathan Adams is following Herald-Gazette reports on the alleged theft of public funds from the summer feeding program by April Smith-Scott and is willing to get involved if necessary to make sure justice is served. ’We have a death penalty case this week in Monroe County and, once that is done, I will dig further into it,’ Adams said. Smith-Scott, through her firm A.D. Smith Community Services, Inc., has received nearly $1 million in USDA funds since 2007. Audits confirmed nearly $143,000 is missing.
