Daniel Hardaway died recently.Services were held Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at East Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Blackmon officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.Mr. Hardaway was born Oct. 31, 1932, in New York City, Lillian Hardaway’s only son. At age 9 months he and his mother returned to Barnesville. He was educated in Lamar County schools. He retired from Aldora Mills. He joined Midway CME Church. Dan was married to the former Mary Jo Mack 60 years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerome and Rickey Hardaway; sister, Ruth Dixson; sisters-in-law, Stella and Yvonne Hardaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Lewis, Andrew and Willie Floyd Hardaway; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Dixson, John Dixson and Rufus Underwood; Survivors include two sons, Billy Joe and Kenneth Hardaway; a daughter-in-law, Rolanda McPhail Hardaway of Griffin; aunt, Frankie Maude Hardaway of The Rock; brothers and sisters, Rev. Benjamin Hardaway of Macon, Charles Hardaway (Sharon) of Ellenwood, Walter B. Hardaway (Rose) of Decatur, Timothy Hardaway of Cleveland, Ohio, Janie Dixson of Atlanta, Geraldine Underwood of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Rickell Rozalin and Robyn Ria Hardaway Griffin; and several cousins and friends.Bentley and Sons Funeral Home in Barnesville had charge of arrangements.
