The removal of tornado debris from the rights-of-way of county roads has progressed fairly well, according to Lamar County commissioner Charles Glass. Plans are to stop collections on Friday, July 1.”All affected roads have been cleaned up at least once and most of them have had two passes,” said Glass. “We need to establish an end date for the contract.”Any debris that has to be picked up after that date will not be eligible for partial reimbursement ffrom FEMA. That means Lamar will have to absorb the full cost of loading, transporting and disposing of debris.
