Defendant flees courthouse during trial

A Lawrenceville man walked away from the Lamar County courthouse while he was on trial Monday and did not return.

District Attorney Jonathan Adams reported Eric Leslie Brantley, 39, fled during a break in the proceedings of his jury trial. He is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, two counts fleeing and attempting to elude and failure to maintain lane.

Brantley was out on bond and not in custody when he fled.

Adams said the trial will continue without him.
