Mr. Delma Dewit Compton, age 85, of Barnesville passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 in a Griffin healthcare facility. Mr. Compton was born in Wilcox County, Ga., to the late Mr. Samuel Russell Compton and the late Mrs. Fannie Griffin Compton. He was retired from the William Carter Company, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Compton was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Survivors include his son, Delma William-Wilkerson Compton (and Nora L.) of Griffin; four sisters, Ruby Jackson of Forsyth, Allie Boggs of Barnesville, Thelma Sauley of Barnesville and Dorothy Hambrick of Barnesville; nine grandchildren; and former wife, Betty Compton. Funeral services for Mr. Delma Compton were conducted on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Williams Funeral Home.
