Despite setbacks, Chen committed to local project

From GlobalAtlanta.com By Trevor Williams Despite its China-based parent company’s recent legal troubles, General Protecht U.S. Inc. still plans to build an electrical components plant in Barnesville. Nearly two years after announcing the plant here, the company’s 200-acre site remains empty, but company leaders have assured local officials that the project will move ahead, said Missy Kendrick, executive director of the Barnesville-Lamar County Industrial Development Authority. Wusheng Chen, General Protecht Group’s chairman, visited Barnesville in December and expressed concern over the state of the housing market in the U.S. The wires and cables General Protecht will make in Barnesville are used in home construction.
