The Lamar County Lady Trojans put themselves in position to finish with the first winning season of girls soccer in school history as they blanked Henry County 7-0 Tuesday at Trojan Field. Lamar stands at 8-6-1 for the year now winning their final home match of the season donning pink jerseys as their way to support the fight against cancer on Senior Night.The boys dropped their match to the War Hawks 7-2 and are 6-8-1 for the year. Both teams travel to McDonough Friday to take on Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy. The Diamond Trojans scored seven runs over the first four innings in their Region 5AA baseball game at Aldora Field only to see Callaway shut them down the rest of the way and mount a late charge to take an 8-7 win. The loss severely damages Lamar’s hopes of hosting a first round state playoff series.The Diamond Trojans will travel to Macon Thursday to take on Westside High School. Gordon College topped South Georgia 7-4 in college baseball Tuesday while the Lady Highlanders were dropping a pair of games to Georgia Perimeter 6-1 and 9-0.
