Diamond Trojans in playoff action Friday

The Diamond Trojans will open play in the first round of the GHSA Class AA state baseball playoffs Friday afternoon in Bogart. Lamar County (17-9), third seed from Region 5AA, will take on North Oconee (23-2), second seed from Region 8AA, in a best of three series.The series will begin Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Olympus Park on the campus of North Oconee High School in Bogart. Game two is set for Friday night at eight o’clock with game three to be played Saturday afternoon at one o’clock if necessary.To get to Olympus Park, home of the baseball Titans, take GA-36E through Jackson to Covington. In Covington, turn right onto GA-81 (Emory Street). Continue on GA-81 until bearing right on onto GA-138 (Walnut Avenue). Continue on GA-138 until reaching US-78 (GA-10) ramp on the right. Continue US-78 until turning right on GA-53 (Hog Mountain Road). Follow GA-53 until bearing left on Rocky Branch Road. North Oconee High School is 2/10 of a mile down Rocky Branch Road. Olympus Park is on campus.Admission is $7.
