Diamond Trojans pound out region road wins

The Lamar County Diamond Trojans notched two critical early season region wins last week, both of which came on the road. Tuesday afternoon found coach Mike Oberg’s team in Monticello where they pounded the mostly hot air Hurricanes 17-3. Cody Fuqua started for LC, going three innings and striking out two to get the win. Jake Allison went the final two innings for LC for the save. Scott Parker, Chris O’Neal and Parker McBroom each drove in three runs for the Trojans. Friday found the Trojans in Cochran to face the Bleckley County Royals. Juan Tucker hit a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to propel LC to a 6-5 win. Wyatt Walden added two hits for LC. Parker McBroom started on the mound for Lamar, going five and one third innings and striking out five. LC hosts Crawford County today at 5:30 p.m. They are at Northside Thursday, at NE Macon Friday and host Northside at Aldora Field at 2 p.m. Saturday.
