Diamond Trojans surge toward postseason

Barring a total collapse in their next three region games, Lamar County all but secured a spot in the Class AA state playoffs with a 10-6 win over Manchester Tuesday.The Diamond Trojans jumped out to a 6-0 first inning lead against the Blue Devils and then fought for their lives as the game was in doubt until the final out was made.At the plate, Ben Cone led Lamar’s eight hit attack with a homer. Marc English got the win on the mound and Brandon Thou closed things out with a save.The Trojans, 15-7 overall and 7-4 in the region, travel to Franklin today to take on Heard County before returning to Aldora Field Monday for a non-region match-up with AAA Washington County and a 5AA twinbill vs. Jordan Tuesday at home.
