Diamond Trojans travel to Savannah for playoff action

By Ken K. Green The Diamond Trojans will travel to Savannah Friday for the first round of the GHSA baseball playoffs. Lamar County will face Benedictine in the best of three series beginning at 1 p.m. Game two will be played after game one with the third and deciding game, if necessary, scheduled for Saturday. Lamar County is the fourth seed from 4-AA after a crucial 6-1 win over Crawford County here last week to claim the final post-season spot with an 8-6 region record. The Trojans closed out the regular season with a 14-2 win in Jackson to finish 14-2 overall. Fifth ranked Benedictine is the champion of 2-AA after going a perfect 18-0 in region play. The Cadets enter the post-season with a 21-5 overall mark. The winner of the Lamar/ Benedictine advances to the second round to play either Fitzgerald or Harlem.
