It appears the closing of the Lamar Pre-release Center, which was to occur by May 1, has been fast-tracked. Now it appears the last inmate could leave the facility off MLK Parkway as early as tomorrow. The question is what happens to the facility once the state abandons it. It should be noted that public affairs officials with the Department of Corrections in Forsyth and Atlanta have refused to return phone calls regarding the closing which was first reported here months ago.
