Dorsey Davis “Dave” Metts, 56, of Milner, died Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Apalachicola, Florida.
Born in Albany, GA, December 23, 1966, he was a son of Mary Isabel Greene Ballard and the late John Horace Metts. Dave was a Master Electrician. He owned and operated Metts Electrical Services, LLC since 2016 and formerly worked with Cleveland Electric and several other electrical companies. He was a member of IBEW #613. He loved fishing and boating.
Surviving in addition to his mother Isabel and father Perry Ballard of Griffin are three children, Justin Wynn of Hampton, Brian Metts and wife Melissa of Macon and Summer Metts of Milner; seven grandchildren, Hunter, Abigail, Ansliey, Savanna, Bryden, Bradley and Aveah; brother, Stacey Metts and wife Lisa of Griffin; former wife and special friend, Susan Metts of Milner; nephews, Tyler Metts and wife Allison, Sarah Metts, Trey Guild and wife Rachel and Mallory Manolis; special loved one, Karisa Olveson.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin First Baptist Church with Mr. Wes Treadway officiating. Burial followed at Williamson First United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tyler Metts, Trey Guild, Bobby Berry, Tommy Williams, Glenn Bufford, Tyler Littlejohn, Michael Pritchett and Michael “Squid” Camarata.
Honorary escorts were employees of Metts Electrical Contactors and members of the Local IBEW #613.
The family received friends in the Sanctuary of Griffin First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests a memorial in Dave’s memory be made to a Trade School of choice.
