Monroe County authorities are working an apparent double murder in which twomwomen were killed.The news release fro Allison Selman-Willis, public information officer for Monroe sheriff John Cary Bittick follows:The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of two Monroe County women and the injury of a Monroe County man. Alayna Pruitt, age 43, and her mother, Sherry Price (age unknown) were found dead in their home on Debra Drive off of Hwy. 74 this morning around 10:45 a.m. January 15, 2011. They apparently died as a result of a single gunshot each. A man, Ronald Pruitt, age 52, also had a gunshot wound and was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia and is in critical condition.He is the husband of Ms. Pruitt. Ms. Pruitt and Ms. Price’s bodies have been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for autopsy. A firearm was recovered at the crime scene and has been sent for ballistics testing to determine if the weapon was used in the commission of these homicides. It is possible that the homicides occurred overnight (January 14-15) and the circumstances surrounding this case are still being investigated.
