Downburst pummels Barnesville, Aldora

Excessive straight line winds and torrential rains hammered Barnesville and Aldora Monday afternoon, downing trees and power lines and flooding streets.

Power outages are widespread.

On Aldora Street, a fallen tree narrowly missed slicing a home in half.

Winds collapsed a carport at a home at the corner of Spencer and Thomaston streets.

Repairs have begun.

Downbursts can trigger winds of up to 150 mph.
