Just after 2 p.m. downtown Barnesville experienced a brown-out or two and then a complete loss of power. According to Randy Matthews of the City of Barnesville, “We aren’t real sure what happened. The transformer blew and the power went out.” The transformer in question is located behind Hardees on College Drive just beside the Balamo lumber yard. Trucks and several workers closed down Taylor Street in order to repair the lines. At press time all but Giant Mart’s power had been fully restored.
