Early voting in the Nov. 4 general election begins today and runs through through Oct. 31. Ballots may be cast at the elections board office in the county administration building on Veterans Parkway.
Voters can cast ballots from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
Two Saturdays are also open for early voting. The office will be open Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The office will also be open for voters on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 1-5 p.m.
Absentee ballots must be requested by Friday, Oct. 24.
The only countywide race is that for tax commissioner which pits interim commissioner Lesley Kilchriss against challenger Tim Turner.
In Barnesville, ward two councilman Chris Hightower is being challenged by Daniel Veon Benton. In ward four, incumbent Joe Sims faces challenger Barbara Harp Allison.
In Milner, Evan Hodges and Craig Timmons are seeking the office of mayor. Five candidates are seeking two slots on the Milner city council. They are incumbent Chris Eady, Michael Floyd, Ryan Lewis, Richard McIntyre and Casey Shaw.
The Milner council race is a plurality vote so the top two vote getters will take office.
Milner voters will also decide whether or not to allow package and by-the-drink sales of beer and wine on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
